"A Contingent flew out to Minneapolis in March for the American College Dance Festival Association regional conference -and won rave reviews for their work there. Twenty schools took part in the get-together, presenting a total of 34 choreographic works. From these, nine were selected by a panel of professional judges for the Gala Concert on the conference's final evening. CalArts submitted two pieces: .... a duet by Pamela Gonzales entitled Flux. comments
"Pam Gonzales is an incredibly talented Los Angeles based choreographer. Her work is beautifully smart and satisfying"
-Freya Sargent, Toronto-based Dancer/Choreographer
"Pamela finds whole extended events in simple movements, gestures or interactions. There is a freshness that is never glib, an intuitive emotional life that avoids sentimentality, and a light quirky quality that is neither indulgent nor superficial. I admire her ability to stay with an idea long enough for it to create its own atmosphere, but still manage to keep it evolving. The work that she makes gives me hope. She has a kind of light bravery in her approach to art-making. This seems to me to be something essential for making dance in our time."
-Colin Connor, Choreographer
"Pam not only fulfilled my expectations, she exceeded them artistically. And I also found her to be one of the most professional young artists I have worked with over the years. She seems to have a real talent for administration and production as well as artistic composition, and that is a rare package indeed."
-Joan Lazarus, Executive Director, DanceArt
